Joan M. Petramale, LCSW-R
Joan has served as a clinician for Samaritan Center for 25 years. Joan has more than 35 years of clinical experience in both inpatient and outpatient psychiatric settings. She also co-founded a geriatric day treatment program for persons with chronic mental illness and organic brain syndromes.
A graduate of Columbia University School of Social Welfare, Joan holds an undergraduate degree in Elementary Education. She served as adjunct professor for SUNY Albany School of Social Work for over 15 years as a graduate student field instructor. She has presented workshops on family systems theory, depression, suicide prevention, and bereavement.
Joan is particularly interested in the integration of spirituality and psychotherapy. Her specific areas of interest and expertise include working with depression, codependency, geriatric issues, grief, and critical incident interventions in the community.
