Samaritan Counseling Center of the Capital Region

 

Patty Gillen, LCSW

Patty has worked with individuals, families and youth for 15 years. She began her carreer as an advocate for survivors of child sexual abuse and rape. She has also worked within the court system advocating for children and their families in areas of foster care, divorce and custody.

Patty has a MSW from Springfield College of Social Work. She also has an undergraduate degree in child and Youth Services from Medialle College of Buffalo, New York. Patty has been trained in EMDR Part I and Part II.

Patty worked for Catholic Family Services providing therapy to youth and families. She implemented and facilitiated groups for youth, women and survivors of sexual abuse, along with conducting parenting skills building groups.

Patty also worked for four years in the foster care system as a family specialist. Her clinical specialties continue to be in areas of survivors of sexual abuse, in both individual and group psychotherapy settings. She also provides Psychotherapy for individuals , families and adolescents, specializing in post-traumatic stress, depression and anxiety.
