Oona Edmands, LMSW

Oona Edmands received her B.A. in Psychology and Dance/Movement Therapy in 1996 from Naropa University in Boulder, Colorado, and her Master of Social Work degree from the University at Albany in 2006.

Oona has worked as a counselor/case manager in an adolescent girls’ shelter in Colorado. During her graduate program, she interned as a rehabilitation practitioner for Rehabilitation Support Services, working with individuals suffering from chronic mental illness, and as a therapist for Samaritan Counseling Center. She is now a resident therapist with Samaritan, working with individuals, couples, and families. Oona also uses play therapy with young children.

Additionally, Oona is a meditation instructor and teacher of Buddhist studies. She has studied for ten years with Dzogchen Ponlop Rinpoche, a prominent Tibetan Buddhist teacher and author. She is the editor of several scholarly books on Buddhism, and is a contributing editor for Bodhi magazine. She teaches courses at Nalandabodhi NYC and online through Naropa University. She is also the Project Manager for Nitartha International, an organization dedicated to the preservation of rare Asian texts, art and educational systems.
