Fees and Insurance

Samaritan Counseling Center of the Capital Region is a not-for-profit agency that receives funding from many different sources, including insurance, client out-of-pocket expense, supporting congregations, United Way, fundraisers, the Silent Samaritan fund, and the Samaritan Care Fund. See below for further information about funding and support. More information about using insurance >

Support

The primary source of income at Samaritan Counseling Center is client fees. We believe it is important for those who receive a valued service to pay at least a portion of the cost of their counseling.

A second source of funds is supporting congregations of many faiths, who yearly include the work of Samaritan Center in their mission giving. Covenant Congregation Information >

Another source of funds is the United Way. Samaritan Counseling Center is a United Way agency and is proud to cooperate with other member agencies in serving the community.

Our fundraisers also help and public support of these efforts help us cover the actual costs of the counseling we provide.

The Silent Samaritan Fund subsidizes uninsured and under-insured clients. This fund is made possible through generous donations from local individuals, communities and clergy.

Samaritan Counseling Center also receives gifts of money, skilled help and supplies from interested individuals and service clubs. All these efforts help us provide help for that portion of our clientele who are in financial need.If you have any questions, please call (518) 374-3514 for more information.

Service Quality is Monitored

Confidentiality

Your relationship to your therapist and to the center is a personal and private matter. On occasion your therapy may be assisted by requesting information from other professionals with whom you have had contact. No contact will be made with any outside person and/or agency without your written permission, except in the event of danger to self or others or if you use a managed care insurance plan.

Continuous Quality Improvement

Samaritan Counseling Center believes that care must be carefully managed internally. We therefore have in place rigorous Continuous Quality Improvement procedures. Staff and records are monitored regularly, and staff meet both in weekly individual and peer supervision, as well as monthly with our consulting psychiatrist. We also collaborate with area psychiatrists to whom we refer.

Staff are trained in brief, focused therapy to work closely with managed care companies and HMOs. Staff can also provide longer-term, intensive psychotherapy when indicated by diagnosis.
