Welcome to the Clergy & Congregation Care
Samaritan Counseling Center of the Capital Region extends its mission to their work with Clergy and Congregations through our CCC program. Congregations and clergy are facing new challenges. Many clergy are entering the ministry later in life after a successful secular career. Congregations are shrinking and the people they are reaching out to have very different ideas about worship, spirituality, and religion. People have less money with which to financially support their houses of worship.
These challenges can raise some very difficult questions for congregations and clergy. Challenge is not a new concept to religion, and it is not likely to go away any time soon; but the good news is a properly equipped clergy person or congregation can rise up to meet any challenge and learn lessons that will strengthen their ministry for generations to come.
The consultants at the Samaritan Counseling Center are affiliated with the Samaritan Institute in Denver, Colorado. The Samaritan Institute provides training and resources gathered from all over the country to their affiliates. Consultants receive ongoing training based on the most recent information and research about churches, congregations, and pastors relative to the culture they minister in. This information allows us to be on the cutting edge of changes and trends that will impact effective leadership.
The American Association of Pastoral Counselors recently honored Samaritan Counseling Center with a Distiguished Program Leadership Award for our “committment to providing pastoral care and counseling, consultations, support groups, and workshops to individuals, couples, families, congregations, and businesses” and for our “innovative programs.”
