Samaritan Counseling Center is the largest nonprofit, interfaith counseling practice in the Capital Region. It is a mental health safety net for people in our neighborhoods, schools, workplace, and congregations.
Since 1985, Samaritan Counseling Center has offered professional, compassionate counseling services to people in varying financial and life circumstances. The center is intentionally holistic and attends to issues of body, mind and spirit.
Our highly trained licensed therapists provide thousands of counseling sessions every year to people affected by a variety of issues including marriage and family concerns, depression, and anxiety. Additional services include counseling for clergy and congregations, professional consultation and supervision, and business consulting. For a full listing of our services, please visit our services page.
The Center relies on private donations and foundation grants to make counseling more affordable by offsetting the cost. Fifteen percent of our community’s families have no health insurance. Many have lost coverage because of job layoffs and the economic downturn. And too often many insurance plans do not cover the cost of long-term counseling services.
Because of these significant challenges, the Center’s board of directors and volunteers are actively engaged in obtaining ongoing philanthropic support. A Silent Samaritan program has been established to encourage people, foundations and businesses to directly support the Samaritan Counseling Center and its mission. Silent Samaritans are people of strength helping people in need. For more information about becoming a Silent Samaritan, please visit our donations page.
